Happy New Year!

I'm returning to my desk today after what seems like a month away, catching up with clients and assessing projects for the month and goals for the year. I love a good fresh start.

I'm guessing that just coming off of the holiday season and time of hibernation has me feeling this way, but I'm feeling a renewed sense of excitement for helping others love their homes and creating spaces that reflect their sense of personality and adventure!

Modular Carpet Tiles

I was talking with a client last night about her funky bedroom size. She was interested in an area rug but there were no really great sizing solution to fit the space. I suggested using modular carpet tiles to create her own size.

My favorite company that offers modular carpet tiles is of course FLOR. They can be used to create an area rug, or used in wall to wall applications. I've installed them myself in a room that had a live edge waterfall countertop, which could have made for tricky trimming. But the tiles were so easy to cut and lay down there were no issues. The owner loved it and I did too!

As an added bonus, the tiles are made from recycled content and can be returned to the store when you are done with them so that they can be recycled again!

"Making Them Into What They Want to Be "

Eric Meyer started a skateboard company called Vision Street Wear and then later Simple Shoes. He's local to my hometown San Luis Obispo and has a home that I've driven by many times admiring from the street. Before sitting down he gave me a tour of the home that and his wife Cynthia share and I was amazed by the thoughtful design of it. He loves architecture, and it shows in houses that he has renovated in his neighborhood.

We talked about the start of his companies, what led him to sell Simple Shoes, renovating homes in his neighborhood and his thoughts on sustainability.

Music is by Fialta, who just released a beautiful Neil Young cover on iTunes with all proceeds going to SIP Certified, which suppers sustainable wine growing in California.
